Family Day #5 – ‘Future, Before It Happens’

Venue Bluecoat
Admission Free
Start Time 12:00
End Time 16:00

For this free event, artist Saffron Lily will be hosting an origami workshop thinking about how we perceive hope, change and agency in a world that breeds climate doom-ism.

Stine Marie Jacobsen’s film project ‘Future, Before It Happens’, devised with children from St Anne’s Catholic Primary School, will be displayed at Bluecoat as part of their Summer Programme.

The film focuses on the wellbeing of young people in relation to the climate crisis and will be accompanied by a series of free family workshops taking place on weekends during the Summer Holidays.

For this event, artist Saffron Lily will be hosting an origami workshop thinking about how we perceive hope, change and agency in a world that breeds climate doom-ism, taking inspiration from a childhood fortune-telling game, shared nostalgia and collaborative play. Join us to shape your future with origami made from compostable papers!

Saffron Lily is a multidisciplinary artist passionate about how we use art as a tool to connect with one another and build community. They have worked as a curator and creative facilitator across the UK and Ireland within organisations such as The Everyman Theatre (YEP), 126 Gallery, Galway Arts Centre and Cúirt International Festival of Literature.

This workshop is free, and all necessary materials will be provided. Families can stay for the entire session or drop in throughout the day.

This series of workshops is kindly supported by SEVENSTORE.
