Open Culture has partnered with Liverpool BID Company, Metquarter, Royal Liver Building and Exchange Station for a festive treat. Join us for a series of creative workshops this winter season.
Ready to get crafty this Christmas? Mark your calendars for these incredible workshops:
Beeswax Candle Workshop with B 4 Biodiversity (20, 24 November, 11 December)
You will be making a large 30cl candle in a glass holder using sustainable hemp waxed wicks. There will be a selection of seasonal essential oils to mix into the melted beeswax to lock in beautiful scents that will fill your home, or those you gift it to, over the festive period. You can decorate your candle using locally sourced and dried flowers, petals and stems harvested from Sefton Park over Autumn.
If you would like to bring along your own dried flowers from your garden then please do, this all helps to add to the personalised and eco-friendly nature of your Candle.
Plus, you will also hand roll your own beeswax candle as an extra candle treat to light during those dark winter days and nights. You will also get a chance to talk about how and why honeybees make beeswax and learn about what happens to bees over winter.
As you will be using hot melted beeswax, anyone under aged 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Block Printed Table Decor Workshop with Red Button Press (21 November, 4 December)
Artist/Printmaker Karen will show you how to design and make your own printing blocks made from recycled materials and apply those designs to fabric using one or two colours of your choice.
You will then take away your own unique, reusable block printed table centre piece and 4 napkins and the printing skills to apply your own designs to other fabric items.
You will be using water-based inks but please wear an apron or old clothes. You will also be using scissors, and a craft knife so please wear your glasses if you need them. Motifs and designs will be provided for reference but please feel free to bring your own ideas and Karen will help you transfer those ideas into blocks. Care instructions will be given in the workshop so they’re reusable for many years to come.
There’s also an extra twist – your unique printing blocks and napkins will have many more uses – Karen will share inspiration on how to create a whole range of hand printed Christmas goodies!
Please note this workshop is unsuitable for children under the age of 14. Children 14+ booking this workshop must be accompanied by a paying adult.
This workshop would normally cost you £45. Thanks to Liverpool BID Company for sponsoring this workshop in celebration of the festive season.
