Grateful Fred’s have been pioneering Americana and Roots music in Formby, Southport and Liverpool since 2010 and during that time have presented some of the best US, Canadian and World artists.

On the first Wednesday of every month, join the Fredhead’s at The Atkinson for a wonderful night of live acoustic music.

This is a real treat, folks! Stephen Fearing, one of Canada’s finest songwriters and a two-time Juno Award winner, is bringing his extraordinary backing band – the award-winning Danish indie-folk trio The Sentimentals. Born in Vancouver but raised in Dublin (where his schoolmates included future members of U2!), Stephen is a founding member of the acclaimed roots-rock supergroup Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, with 16 solo albums to his credit and collaborations with legends like Bruce Cockburn and Sarah McLachlan. Since their first tour together in 2018, Stephen and The Sentimentals – M.C. Hansen on electric guitar, Nikolaj Wolf on electric bass, and Jacob Chano on percussion – have become fast friends, creating a distinctive sound that blends classic songwriting with innovative folk elements. Their chemistry comes beautifully to life on Stephen’s 2022 album “Vejpoesi” (Danish for “Road Poems”), recorded live in Denmark, and showcases the kind of magical connection between musicians that only comes from years of playing together. This will be an evening of profound artistry and world-class musicianship that you won’t want to miss!
