Bluecoat Display Centre’s In the Window featured maker for June is local ceramicist, Chris Turrell.
Inspired by the graceful and complex structures found in Medieval lace designs, Chris presents a brand new collection of abstract ceramic sculptures constructed from mono printed porcelain, black and architectural clay.
Chris has been working in clay for over 25 years, making work for sale, exhibition and retail. He has taught in a variety of institutions including Central St Martins and University of Brighton as well as commissions from the Liverpool Biennial and consultant to Turner Prize winners, Assemble.
In the last few years he has set up and run Baltic Clay, an open access ceramics studio in Liverpool. This studio provides access to space and equipment for ceramic artists and classes for beginners.
All Chris’ work featured are available to buy from their online shop as well as a wider selection in the gallery. Just call or email crafts@bluecoatdisplaycentre.
