This Epiphany cantata recounts Herod’s anger when he is hoodwinked by the three Magi, after they visit the child Jesus with their gifts, but fail to return to Herod’s court to inform him of the child’s location. The festive setting, which includes three trumpets and timpani, also forms the concluding part of the Christmas Oratorio.
