Music for Meditation is an experimental approach to live music, a hybrid of live performance and guided meditation. The aim is to create a more immersive gig experience, using music as the object of meditation – with the help of a qualified secular mindfulness instructor.
For our first event we are very happy to be welcoming Polypores to perform for us, who ‘paints music with a modular synthesizer, drawing influence from ambient, new age, and experimental electronics’.
The meditation will be guided by qualified instructor, Tony Bennett, a mindfulness teacher with The Mind Map and a current PhD student at LJMU’s School of Psychology.
The performance + guided meditation will last approximately 30 minutes, with a brief period before and after for introductions, explainers and feedback. Prompt arrival is essential as latecomers will not be permitted entry.
Attendees are encouraged to bring cushions or mats to make themselves as comfortable as possible. The event is taking place in a dance studio so the flooring is fine for sitting on, there will be a limited number of chairs available too.
Spaces are strictly limited to 30 – so we’d recommend booking your ticket at the earliest available opportunity.
