Join Metal Liverpool for a creative workshop exploring the stories and histories of community gardens along the Liverpool-Manchester railway on Saturday 18 May at Edge Hill train station from 1pm!
Planting and Placemaking Project (PPP) is a participatory mapping project by artist Zhuozhang Li that focuses on and celebrates community-based railway gardens along the Liverpool-Manchester railway. Are you an artist, gardener, eco-activist, community gardener or nature enthusiast? They’re gathering at Edge Hill train station to share and exchange knowledge about ‘planting and placemaking’ at a site-specific workshop.
Through PPP, Zhuozhang aims to ‘geographically re-connect the railway gardens between Liverpool and Manchester, socially re-build a bridge between local communities and cultural organisations, and together, re-imagine an alternative relationship among community, nature and urban infrastructure’. A creative activity will be led by artist Becky Peach, with support from researcher Marwa Al Khalidi.
A travel bursary is available for participants. Please contact edgehill@metalculture.com for more information.
This project follows on from Zhuozhang’s Metal residency in 2022.
The project is a knowledge exchange project funded by the University for the Creative Arts.
