Join Fiona Stirling, Amy Russell, Blinky Bellas and Josephine Wood in a conversation about their practices and the impact of time and space

Fiona Stirling is an artist and mother. Since beginning her PhD in 2019, she has been researching into the impact of time and space on the paintings of mid-life women and non-binary artists.

Commissioned by St Helens Borough Library Service’s Cultural Hubs programme in 2020, Fiona has been by making, reading and writing around the themes of “painting ad hoc” and “inbetweener painting”. These terms describe the process of painting in between other jobs or responsibilities.

In this conversation, Fiona has invited three other mid-life artists who work predominantly in painting – Amy Russell, Blinky Bellas & Josephine Wood to talk with her about their work, and to reflect on the ways in which time, space influence their practices.

This event is presented in partnership with Liverpool Independents Biennial.
