PEARL presents ZEROS AND ONES: Beam Splitter & Adam Campbell / Jenn Kirby(Please note: matinee event starting at 3pm)Lola de la Mata and Kepla are proud to bring a special collaboration performance between vocalist Audrey Chen (US/TW), trombonist Henrik Munkeby Nørstebø (Norway) aka Beam Splitter and Adam Campbell (DE/SCO) in quadraphonic sound. Liverpool based composer and creative technologist Jenn Kirby will also be performing live.'...split open like hollow bones head to clavicle, muscles twitching and air spewing, breaking ground and mending it with alien hums.'BEAM SPLITTER is a duo for amplified voice, trombone and analog electronics based in Berlin, Germany. Through numerous performances in a wide range of spaces, contexts and collaborations, they have developed a unique brand of highly amplified dialogue, which is as intimate as it is equal amounts raw and entirely exposed. The duo have toured extensively across five continents since 2015, joining together their two individual voices into a distinct language that delves beyond the borders of the corporeal elements of un-processed voice and trombone, while utilizing analog electronics to offset their hyper extended physical play.http://www.beamsplitter.org Adam Campbell is an artist and musician working with cybernetically inspired performance systems. His work forefronts improvisation and exploration, in which he steers messily entangled networks of space, audience, sound systems and synthesis. Utilising noise, digital synthesis, analog electronics, feedback, volume and occasional vocal audience interaction his performances embrace the unpredictability and instability of high volume non-linearity.Originally from Scotland, Campbell is now based in Berlin. Along with Tristan Clutterbuck he founded Fancyyyyy; a record label and synthesiser module manufacturer, and the net label FLMPP with Diego Behncke and Nick Klein.www.adamcampbell.orgJenn Kirby is a composer, performer, and creative technologist, working with embodied interaction and sensor‑based musical systems. Jenn makes controllers and instruments to explore body physicality in composition, improvisation, and performance. Current work focuses on the interaction between sound, body, technology, and space through the design and use of wearable musical instruments.Jenn’s work has been described as “digital surrealism,” “intoxicatingly strange,” and “a sonic meditation on the fleeting temporality of embodied existence.” Current work focuses on the interaction between sound, the body, technology, and space, in the design and use of wearable musical instruments.www.jennkirby.comPEARL is a new sound art and performance event series by Lola de la Mata and Jon Davies.
