Bookworm Players Storytime

Storytime for Under 5s on Wednesday mornings at 10.30am.

The Bookworm Players are a local theatre company who create exciting and imaginative experiences for children and their grown-ups.

Their Storytime sessions are led by professional actors, so expect high energy, playful interactions and dramatic delivery!

Settle in and join them for silliness, songs and their favourite stories as we explore them together in the Everyman Street Cafe.

Family Mobile-Making Workshop

Inspired by ‘Float’ in Bluecoat’s library space, make your own painted and collaged hanging mobile with Millie Toyin Olateju.

Millie designed the mobile in their gallery, as well as the ice-cream cart in Bluecoat’s hub/courtyard.

Recommended age: 5-11 years.

Children’s Art Workshops

Join the team on Saturday 30th July for drop-in arts and crafts activities suitable for the whole family.

At Saturday morning sessions they encourage involvement from all ages – little kids and adults who are big kids at heart.

The next workshops are on Saturday 30th July. This month’s workshops are inspired by The Wonderful World of the Ladybird Book Artists, with classic children’s imagery providing inspiration for your own books and bookmarks.

Sessions are at 10:15, 11:30, 12:45, 2:00 and 3:15, and last for one hour each.

Sessions will be drop-in, no need to book in advance – however you can Book via Eventbrite to guarantee your space.

Baby Book Club (Spring ’22)

Bluecoat’s popular Baby Book Club returns with a course of 10 weekly sessions for parents and carers with babies aged from 3 to 12 months.

The course was developed by staff from the Participation Team at the Bluecoat working alongside artist and educator Roger Hill, who will be leading the course, to help new parents to develop their reading skills and techniques while encouraging their babies to engage with different books.

Each session includes discussion and sharing time, book recommendations and reviews, individual and group reading, and fun activities linked to the weekly core story.

Titanic crafts

Get creative with Maritime Museum’s family art and craft workshop inspired by the world’s most famous ship – Titanic.

The morning session is a relaxed session. It is a time when they take things that little slower and quieter. If that is something you would prefer, then you are very welcome to join them.

Suitable for adults and children over 7.
