Civic Data Cooperative – data li...

The Civic Data Cooperative is developing plans to co-produce a data literacy museum exhibit on civic and health data about the Liverpool City Region.

They want to better understand what our residents want to learn about data to develop a data literacy museum exhibit and intend on co-creating this exhibit with local residents and community groups. The museum exhibit will provide an opportunity to introduce residents to their data commons through interactive and creative data literacy activities.

They are seeking input from the creative sector across the LCR to scope the existing work in this space, learn from local artists/exhibitors about their experiences co-creating with the community and understand what venues might be suitable to host this exhibition.

They would like to invite you to a workshop on Friday 16 February 10 – 12:00 pm at their offices in the Civic Health Innovation Labs, Liverpool Science Park, Liverpool L3 5TF. Ideally they would like to meet in person but they will also provide a hybrid option for those who are able to join online.

Fat Chance

Meet Rachel – a 20-something actress from Boro whose funny, celebratory and politically powerful one-woman play explores her true-life experience of weight gain from size 8 to 18. From audition nerves and throwaway comments to literally breaking a leg this play is for:

Anyone who’s felt like they had to shrink themselves

Anyone who’s adapted to be more palatable to others

Anyone who’s ever put on or lost weight and been treated differently

Anyone who had free school dinners

Anyone who feels they don’t fit.

This unconventional show looks at the pitfalls of trying to have it all.

As SHE Likes It

As SHE Likes It is inspired by the story of #MeToo pioneer Patricia Douglas. It’s been nearly 100 years since Patricia Douglas was lured to a studio party under the guise of a casting call, in what was perhaps the biggest, best-suppressed scandal in Hollywood history.

Through a fusion of live theatre and filmed footage, As SHE Likes It exposes the cultural legacy of sexism and exploitation that still haunts the industry to this day. A darkly comedic explosion of multimedia, verbatim, cabaret and drag; a contemporary Brechtian-style play that poses the question: How much has changed between the Hollywood of yesteryear and now?

Written by Chloe Wade and supported by Olivier Award winning playwright Morgan Lloyd Malcolm (Emilia The Globe, Obsession Netflix), As SHE Likes It is a peek behind the sepia cigarette smoke and passionate embraces of Old Hollywood, as seen through the eyes of its archetypes.

97+

TomCainTheatre and Bill Elms Productions proudly presents 97+, Friday, 12th April 2024 at the Liverpool Olympia.

10/10 Perfect. Possibly the most powerful theatre show I’ve ever seen’ Writebase Liverpool Theatre Festival.

97+ is a new theatrical drama based on the 1989 Hillsborough Disaster where severe injuries led to 97 lives lost. Written and directed by Tom Cain, the new full length version of 97+ makes its debut at the Liverpool Olympia for one-night only, following its huge success and critical acclaim at Liverpool Theatre Festival and Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Set in 2012, Hillsborough survivors John and Steve each deal with the trauma they suffered as young boys, now as middle-aged men. John bottles up his emotions and only exposes them to his wife, Liz, as he regularly suffers from night terrors but avoids seeking treatment from the doctors. As opposed to Steve, who lives alone but seeks help from the hospital or the vodka bottle as his only support mechanisms. Despite countless setbacks, the Hillsborough survivors continue their fight for justice.’

97+ is written in collaboration with the Hillsborough Survivors Support Alliance (H.S.A). At the end of each performance there is a donation bucket for those wishing to donate to this charity. Money raised goes towards funding Hillsborough Transformational Recovery Model, a therapy designed to help survivors overcome their trauma.

97+ aims to educate audiences on the truth of Hillsborough and raise awareness for survivors still suffering from their trauma.
