INDIKA- Sita’s Magical Forest

Readapted from the celebrated Indian mythological epic, the Ramayana, Sita’s Magical Forest is a children’s dance-drama production which tells the trials and triumphs of Rama and Sita. Through storytelling and dance, Sita tells her children tales of war, bravery, friendship, loyalty and devotion, through adventures with the animals she met in the forest.

Amongst them are an eagle; a bear; a sea monster; a crow; a frog; a squirrel; a golden deer; one of the most important characters, Hanuman, and his band of monkeys. Sita’s Magical Forest features the music of classical pianist Anil Srinivasan, choreography of Mohanapriyan Thavarajah and artistic direction, concept, script and choreography design by Aravinth Kumarasamy of Apsaras Arts (Singapore). A perfect half-term outing!

Christmas LIVE!

Join the team on 17 November from 4-8pm for Liverpool ONE Christmas LIVE! Expect an evening full of non-stop music, singing and dancing from hundreds of local schoolchildren and community groups as they perform across multiple stages, helping to spread the yuletide cheer as Christmas swings into action at Liverpool ONE.

You will be wowed by aerial performances who will take over Paradise Street, showcasing their skills 13ft high off the ground! Enjoy the return of the much-loved pop-up pantos, giving you a sneak peek to the festive performances from some of the best well-known venues across the region this Christmas.

The event will see three additional areas becoming a focal point for up-and-coming local talent over on Thomas Steers Way, Peter’s Lane and the Galleria by the entrance of ODEON featuring 100 youth theatre performers, three community choirs, 30 Christmas elves, and appearances by Santa too!

Visitors can also expect to see the return of much-loved Christmas reindeer light installations throughout various locations, neon trees on Paradise Street, festive angel wings and plenty of twinkling Christmas lights and decorations across Liverpool ONE.

Halloween Party at Liverpool ONE

Liverpool ONE will be bringing a fancy dress competition, scary characters and all things frightful this October for Halloween!

On Sunday 29 October, Liverpool ONE will be hosting a special spooky event with Radio City from 12pm – 5pm. This will include a spooky fancy dress competition, ghoulish guests and zombie dancers.

Witches, wizards and zombies are all welcome, as are scary versions of Paw Patrollers or Peppa Pigs or anything our creative younger customers would like to add to the mix.

Northern Lights: Gallery Wall Launch

Baltic Creative CIC is thrilled to announce the opening of a new exhibition space at Northern Lights.

This unique showcase kicks off a regular programme of events to support the local artist community. This new gallery wall will redefine the traditional gallery experience by transforming the industrial backdrop of this former canning warehouse into a canvas for artists to express their creativity.

The inaugural exhibition, featuring works from Hub Studios, promises to captivate audiences with a diverse range of artistic expressions. Kim Harley-Griffiths, Freida McKitrick and Matthew Storrow from Hub will be exhibiting their artwork and launch a new collection of ceramics, produced after studying under fellow Northern Lights resident, Simon Shaw.

The new accord was built on self-determinism and parity of esteem and would become known as The Good Friday Agreement. Signed between two governments and 8 political parties, how did this political behemoth affect those who had to live within its terms? What would the cultural memory and legacy of this defining document be?

Annual Seamus Heaney Lecture – D...

The Annual Seamus Heaney Lecture 2023, organised by the Institute of Irish Studies, University of Liverpool, in association with The Estate of Seamus Heaney, will be delivered by Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell, acclaimed astrophysicist from Northern Ireland, past president of the Royal Astronomical Society and past president of the Institute of Physics.

The evening will open with a reading of Seamus Heaney poems by Liverpool-born actor Paul McGann (Withnail and I, Doctor Who) and will conclude with refreshments.

Seamus Heaney was born and raised in County Derry. Death of a Naturalist, his first collection of poems, appeared in 1966 and was followed by poetry, translations and criticism which established him as one of the leading poets of his generation. In 1995 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature “for works of lyrical beauty and ethical depth, which exalt everyday miracles and the living past”. Seamus Heaney died in 2013.

The Royal College of Physicians (RCP) Museum is delighted to welcome RCP censor and world-leading scientist, Professor Tom Solomon CBE to perform his fantastic family show about COVID-19 at the RCP at the Spine in Liverpool.

The show features five comic book “science superheroes” tussling with their nemesis, Corry the Coronavirus, on a stage dressed with a massive mouth. During the show the audience learns why viruses emerge, what happens in a pandemic, and how we can beat such threats in the future. In the highly interactive show, children play Jason and the R-Go-Noughts to understand how viruses are passed on and dress up as bogeys to see how the body fights infection!

Song of the Sea (Extra tickets)

The enchanting Irish animation SONG OF THE SEA tells the story of Ben and his little sister Saoirse – the last Seal-child – who embark on a fantastic journey across a fading world of ancient legend and magic in an attempt to return to their home by the sea.

The film takes inspiration from the mythological Selkies of Irish folklore, who live as seals in the sea but become humans on land. SONG OF THE SEA, directed by Tomm Moore (The Secret of Kells) features the voices of Brendan Gleeson, Fionnula Flanagan, David Rawle, Lisa Hannigan, Pat Shortt and Jon Kenny.

This is a FREE event but places must be booked.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Marc Davenant: Outsiders – Artis...

This exhibition displays a selection of the resulting photographs, alongside this personal testimony.

With Outsiders, Davenant aimed to capture a snapshot of homelessness in modern Britain over a six year period. The project was done in partnership with the charity Shelter and included environmental portraiture together with personal testimony from participants. The national project covered locations in London, Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle, Brighton, Kent, Hertfordshire and Norwich.
