Join Dr Diana Powell to create art inspired by the latest space missions!

You’ll take inspiration from NASA’s DART mission, which changed the path of an asteroid’s orbit with an impact hit. The artist Roy Lichtenstein used themes of explosions and fast travel in his work, and so you’ll combine these two ideas to create a stunning 3D poster of an Asteroid impact out of recycled materials.

A new play for and by Young People.

“You have a choice. I’ve made mine. Make.Your.Choice”

The oceans are rising, things keep getting worse but the people in charge seem to be getting in the way instead of solving anything. Frankly, we are sick of it. We’ve crunched the numbers, we’ve written the beats & we’ve made the placards. Now we’ve got the answer. To it all, actually: to life, to saving the planet, and to living in peace. (And it’s not 42.) All we need to do now is convince the “grown ups” to trust us. With bangin’ tunes, good vibes & our own political party, we’re ready. Are you gonna join us?!

Expect buzzing energy, live music, and real talk with a sprinkling of anti-establishment, pro-environment anarchy.

Seen and Heard – Adventures in A...

Seen and Heard – Adventures in Art and Dementia brings together six artists who worked creatively in the Belong care village in Chester.

Spending time with residents, families, Belong colleagues and children from the on-site Nursery in Belong, they invited people to take part in a range of arts activities. This exhibition, which journeys throughout the ground floor of Grosvenor Museum in Chester, includes artworks made by the artists and people from the village community.

Seen and Heard is part of Where the Arts Belong, a groundbreaking partnership between the Bluecoat, Liverpool’s contemporary arts centre, and innovative care provider, Belong. They are delighted to share a glimpse into the processes, artists’ works and responses created across the project.

You can find out more about Where the Arts Belong here: https://www.thebluecoat.org.uk/projects/where-the-arts-belong

The exhibition takes place at Grosvenor Museum in Chester, and continues until Sunday 8th October.

Tony Phillips, Above Us Only Sky

Our long association with Liverpool-born artist Tony Phillips continues with Above Us Only Sky, an art trail that began in 2021 and is being relaunched with a slightly different route, starting and ending at the Bluecoat.

Four in a series of painted plaques are sited on the the arts centre’s new wing in Blundell Lane. Each features an aircraft in chronological sequence, from 1903, the first controlled powered flight, to today’s drones.

Weaving through the Ropewalks district via the ‘Bombed Out Church’, the icon-like images trace the story of man-made flight, both its positive and the negative aspects. A guide is available, with information about the featured aircraft and the trail’s sites.
