BlackFest Christmas Bash

Join BlackFest for a jam down in the Baltic Triangle.

The party will feature DJ Shenice with R&B Hip Hop classics and renowned DJ Papu Raf, producer, event manager of CoolitLiverpool and Co-Founder of House Of Zuzu bringing energy through music, Raf plays Afrohouse, Afrobeats, Disco, House Music, R’n’B, Hip Hop, Amapiano and more.

Food will be provided by Ray Rays Caribbean, who are passionate about providing delicious and high-quality authentic Caribbean food, prepared with the freshest and finest ingredients, Ray Rayz will be providing a vegetarian and meat option.

Spread Your Wings: Launch event

Spread Your Wings marks the launch of Wildfire Rising year two – a dedicated development programme for Global Majority Artists in the Northwest.

Wildfire Rising is led by Movema and Cheshire Dance with the shared vision of removing inequalities and racism within the dance sector. This year focuses on self-care, access and authenticity.

Spread Your Wings is part of Liverpool’s Black History month, commissioned by Culture Liverpool – Liverpool City Council. The event has been curated by by Akeim Touissant Buck and the Wildfire Rising Artists.

What to expect and why attend?

  • Find out about bursaries and training opportunities for artists.
  • To meet and work with our Wildfire Rising Artists (Global majority artists in the North West)
  • To deepen your understanding of issues and barriers faced by Global Majority Artists.
  • To develop connections with Global Majority artists and organisations that support their development.
  • To be part of radical change need to remove racism from our sector.
  • To dance and enjoy yourself.

Actor as Facilitator Workshop

There are many opportunities for actors to use their skills in a range of different contexts from youth projects, theatre in education to working in schools delivering workshops.

Emma Bramley has over 25 years experience working as a freelance Drama for Learning Practitioner in a wide range of contexts and is an approved trainer in Mantle of the Expert. All Things Considered use these techniques in the participatory phases of creating their socially engaged work.

This workshop is for those actors who would like to explore, develop and hone their facilitation skills to create immersive, challenging and creative spaces for participants. They will be using an educational/drama for learning focus for the workshop however the skills, techniques and models are transferable to a wide range of settings.

The workshop will explore:

•    Hooking participants in
•    Meaningful questioning
•    Structuring and using drama based techniques to explore themes
•    Facilitating and working in participatory creative spaces

The grand opening of Liverpool Lighthouse will take place on Saturday 3rd December at 2pm screening The Greatest Showman Sing-along free to the community and invited VIP guests

LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!

  • Charlie Brown opened and managed the Gaumont from 1931 to 1935. The building operated as a Gaumont cinema until November 1960. His grandson Andy Brown will be at the official opening on December 3rd
  • Based in a refurbished former Gaumont cinema in high-deprivation North Liverpool, Liverpool Lighthouse are a registered charity working with the local community to create thriving communities of people living more fulfilled lives

The cinema aims to promote well-being for the local community which has the highest levels of deprivation nationally at a time when people are struggling with the cost of living crisis, bring people together in positive shared experience and provide creative, cultural opportunities to promote connection and improved mental health and wellbeing.

Liverpool Lighthouse with support from Awards for All, LFC, Liverpool Mayoral Fund and Crowd Funding purchased and installed a cinema-quality AV system and screen in the auditorium along with other equipment to help create an authentic cinema experience. Liverpool Lighthouse was established in 1998 in a former Gaumont Cinema building and is now a Creative Sanctuary for its local communities and artists with a creative wellbeing programme.

Edwardian extravagance

Using depictions of costume in art, Pauline will reveal stories of a fashionable Edwardian lady’s wardrobe, including court dresses like the one once worn by Lady Lever.
