“Vivid and highly engaging” – BBC Music Magazine ★★★★★

Born and raised in Parkgate, Wirral, Raja was hugely active in the local music scene throughout the 1990s, before moving to London where he became a prominent session musician and later started his own band.

“I’m so excited to be performing in Liverpool, where my music career began. I have incredible memories from those early shows, the vibrant music scene and amazing audiences. It’s where I developed my passion for music and my unique voice as a musician. It’s where I drew my inspiration. I used to deliver the Wirral Globe as a boy and that’s how I earned the money to buy my first bass, so I can’t wait to return to Birkenhead for what will be a truly special and heartfelt performance”

“A tailor-made festival band with a unique identity” – The Guardian ★★★★

“The hip-shaking mix of Eastern song lines and funky Western dance-beats never wavers” – Evening Standard ★★★★

Scrambled Eggs

Kaya has always used humour and songwriting to cope with the challenges in life.

Scrambled Eggs is a tragicomic musical theatre show which weaves authentic stories together to explore darkness and light in the emotionally complex world of fertility journeys.

As one of the more than 3.5 million people in the UK experiencing infertility, Kaya (and her husband) compiled funny and dark anecdotes as a way to process the experience. Sharing her story led to a profound connection with audiences and began a dialogue around infertility and childlessness.

This work in progress explores involuntary and chosen childlessness, the impact of social pressure, and the pursuit of leaving a legacy. Scrambled Eggs uses live music, physical theatre and visuals to explore joy, loss, isolation, and the perspective gained on the journey from grief to acceptance.

Scrambled Eggs is about resilience and courage, playing the cards you are dealt, and forging your own path through life. This show will challenge fertility shame and stigma, and raise awareness, while still offering a good night out.

The 60 minute performance will be followed by a discussion and holding space for sharing, feedback and questions with the Scrambled Eggs team.

Kaya interspersed her songs with stories and jokes and her wit and humour is evident in her lyrics. Her style reminded me of Bill Bailey, witty, charming and musically gifted.”

Gary Dougherty, Go Places Do Things, 2024

Kaya is a neurodiverse singer songwriter, senior lecturer, vocal & performance coach, and considers herself Scousewegian (Liverpudlian via Norway).

Although Kaya has 30 years of experience on stage, Scrambled Eggs is her first experience of devising autobiographical theatre.
