Senior Venue Technician – The Stoller Hall, closes 30 Jun

The Senior Venue Technician will work closely with the Technical Manager to ensure the effective delivery of all performances, events and conferences at The Stoller Hall and our other performance spaces across the site, including pop-up events in the Courtyard and Atrium.

They will manage the stage, technical and operational aspects of the concerts and events and deputise for the Technical Manager, acting as lead contact for visiting artists and clients on the day as required. They will prepare, rig and operate sound, lighting, audio-visual, projection and staging equipment as required, liaising with visiting artists, promoters and clients as well as members of Staff.

Hours: 35 hours (Full Time) per week with occasional weekend and evening work to support the delivery of projects and festival events.

Salary: £21,000 per annum

Key Duties

1. Administration

– Be the main point of contact for external enquiries via email, phone and post, directing key information to relevant staff.
– Office management, including ensuring all stationery and building supplies are monitored and replenished efficiently, adhering to best value and environmental policies.
– Ensure health and safety information, first aid boxes and mandatory certificates are displayed and maintained.
– Management of physical files, systems and company archive in office.

2. Artistic administration

– Issuing of agreed contracts for artists, suppliers and freelancers.
– Collate and record artists/performers and freelance workers equal opportunities data.
– Introduce and maintain a system recording staff, volunteer, board and artists travel information for environmental reporting.
– Lead on the implementation and collation of audience surveys and participants evaluations and entering responses into the online data system.
– Support programming team with the collation of artists information, including event copy and images.
– Arrange for the print and distribution of promotional material including festival brochures.
– Support artistic team in advancing events including; booking artists, venues, hotels and local, national and international travel.
– Be present at festival, community events and projects supporting with venue dressing, collating audience surveys, organising artists/performers dressing room riders.
– Oversee volunteer schedule for events.

3. Finance

– Work closely with senior staff to maintain accurate records of monthly financial activities.
– Support director imputing income and expenditure into digital finance system.
– Work closely with senior management to produce regular finance reports including funder reports.
– Work closely with the director to prepare for annual financial inspection.
– Preparing purchase orders for goods and services, processing and recording payments each month.
– Manage company petty cash, keeping accurate and up to records.
– Manage and record volunteer expenses and artists per diem cash payments.

4. HR

– Maintain staff and volunteer files, including: collation of timesheets, recording annual leave and sickness and ensuring personal information is reviewed and updated.
– Arrange for new staff and volunteer DBS checks and notify management when DBS renewals are due.
– Maintaining staff training and development records and support director in arranging training and development for staff, volunteers and board members.
– Providing external payroll provider with accurate monthly updated for the preparation of staff wages.
– Support management in maintaining and updating policies and procedures.

5. Other

– Contribute to updating core social media platforms and website.
– Collate press cuttings, reviews, quotes, pictures, video clips and recordings for publication on website and elsewhere.
– Support the production of LAAF digital newsletters.
– Carry out duties and responsibilities for Equal Opportunities, diversity and dignity at work in the delivery of services and the treatment of others.
– Adhere to organisation’s policies and procedures.
– Undertake training necessary to fulfil the role.
– Carry out any other duties as may be reasonably required by the management.

Essential skills and experience:

– A minimum of 2 to 3 years’ experience of working in an administrative or assistant capacity or a similar role.
– Able to work flexible hours including early starts, evenings and weekends during annual festival period, occasional out of festival events and community projects.
– Willingness to travel within the Liverpool City Region and occasional regional and national travel to meetings and events.
– Experienced in the use of IT for communications, creating documents, spreadsheets, database and electronic filing systems.
– Experience of petty cash and finance record systems.
– Experienced, comfortable and confident in working in a public-facing role.
– Warm, welcoming and confident in a range of communications.
– Excellent organisation skills and experienced in working towards and meeting multiple deadlines with solid attention to detail.

Sales Assistant Role – Liverpool Art Fair 2023, closes 31 May

This summer dot-art are partnering with the Royal Liver Building for the long-awaited return of Liverpool Art Fair! They are bringing Liverpool Art Fair to the city’s most iconic landmark, after a pandemic enforced 3 year break.

They will be open to the public 6 days a week, from 30th June– 20th August 2023 and will be staffed Tuesday – Sunday, 12-6pm.

They are now looking for a Sales Assistant to help with the day to day running of the event.

Applicants will ideally have an arts background, with a proactive and positive approach and experience in retail or sales roles. The Sales Assistants will be responsible for dealing with the general public and providing an excellent first impression and therefore must be confident, presentable and professional.

The successful candidates will be independent, practical and resourceful as they will be working in a small team and covering a variety of roles.  Excellent inter-personal and organisational skills will also be vital to ensure the event runs smoothly day to day.

•    This will be fixed term contract from 26th June – 22nd August.
•    The post will be for 18 hours per week (3 x days per week; Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday)
•    The successful candidate will also need to be available for the install and launch of the event from Monday 26th – Thursday 29th June and take down Monday 21st– Tuesday 22nd August.

Arts Practitioners – St Helens LCEP, closes 9 June

CulturEd is the St Helens Local Education Partnership (LCEP), they support schools by providing access to high quality creative activities for their children and young people as well as offering a series of CPD and networking sessions for teachers to develop their own creative skills and knowledge.

CulturEd works with a team of experienced arts professionals who deliver sessions with schools, community groups and families. These practitioners span a wide range of visual arts, drama, dance and spoken word. They are looking to expand their team of practitioners and are particularly keen to hear from artists working in the following areas;

• Painting
• 3D sculpture and clay
• Textiles
• Graffiti and spray paint art
• Drawing skills, illustration and portraits
• Collage and mixed media
• Digital and Multimedia Art

Practitioners must have:

o Experience of workshop delivery with children and young people.

The team are recruiting for the position of Stage Manager for the Manchester ATG venues, to be based at Manchester Opera House.

You will be part of the senior technical team liaising with visiting productions regarding their staffing and any requirements during their stay. Under the Technical Manager you will lead on the maintenance of the venue’s stage machinery, flying system and any equipment within the department, you will assist the full time team in managing a pool of casual technicians and support the Technical Manager in maintaining a positive safety culture.
