Facilities Manager (Theatre) – Action Transport Theatre, closes 5 Dec

Action Transport Theatre (ATT) is  an Arts Council NPO based in Ellesmere Port. They work with children and young people as creative collaborators

This is an exciting time for ATT, and a unique moment to join their growing organisation with a £2.5m capital re-development of ‘Whitby Hall’ under way.

It’s transformation into an arts and cultural centre in the middle of beautiful Whitby Park will become the home from which to create and support theatre for young audiences regionally and nationally and will include a 150 seat flexible theatre space, a café, workshop and office spaces.

This new role will have overall responsibility for management of the building and facilities and will be part of the project management team who support the move back into the new venue in Spring 2021.

They are looking for someone with a background in facilities or building management and experience of managing a public facing building and maintaining buildings, equipment and plant. Knowledge and experience of compliance management and Health & Safety at work legislation is essential.

You’ll have leadership skills and be able to manage staff, freelancers, contractual partners.

You’ll find creative ways to balance their need to generate income from the hire of spaces with our desire to make sure their values and mission influence their decisions about programming and building-based partnerships.

You will be passionate about environmental sustainability with ideas for how they can increase their environmental responsibility.

You will line manage and work closely with the Production Manager who is responsible for the operation of main theatre space and for supporting all ATT projects and productions with technical stage management expertise. You’ll also be responsible for new building based roles such as cleaner and caretaker

You will have some degree of technical skills (eg AV, digital, sound, IT) and will be able to support the partners and customers who hire spaces within the venue with a degree of technical event support.

Community Outreach Officer – Haywire Theatre, closes 26 Nov

HaywireTheatre is a company that celebrates the extraordinary everyday. Through a focus on recognisable, relatable stories, they work to empower communities and spread understanding. They are looking for a new freelance artist to assist in the delivery of a period of research and development for an upcoming project in North Wales.

Led by Haywire Theatre and a partnership with Well-Fed Ltd, their next venture focuses around raising awareness of food poverty in the Flintshire region of North Wales. Between December 2021 and March 2022 we will lead a period of research, community outreach and artistic development, ahead of a full rehearsal period later next year.

You will be responsible for working closely alongside their Producer to deliver a programme of community outreach, ensuring strong positive benefit for the Flintshire public, as well as accurate planning and analysis of the project. You will be handling public communication, administration, and assisting in the delivery of all community outreach programmes, and taking responsibility for the translation of all materials to Welsh speaking audiences.

You will need to be an energetic, enthusiastic organiser with a keen understanding of the mechanisms of good quality community work and the positive impact it has on the public. While professional experience in a similar role is not required, you must be able to demonstrate adept skill for project planning, management, and analysis, as well as the ability to work with a wide range of people from various backgrounds and lifestyles.

As the focus of the project is on bringing together a wide network of people to collate a bank of information and lived experiences, it is vital that the Community Outreach Officer is able to work respectfully with a diverse spectrum of voices.

The project will run for a period of 12 weeks and is funding dependent.

Head of Venue Operations – Liverpool City Council, closes 10 Dec

You will be in charge of Liverpool’s three prestigious City Halls – St George’s Hall, Town Hall and Croxteth Hall.  You will strategically and tactically direct all operations and activities that take place, so that City Hall venues are shining examples of commercial and operational excellence, underpinning the City Plan.

You will have overall accountability for City Halls operational delivery, sales, marketing, customer experience and commercial performance. Whilst you will directly oversee St George’s Hall activities, you will also ensure that Town Hall and Croxteth Hall operations are aligned, creating a centralised and standardised approach to delivery.

You will understand the importance of positive team culture and how you can drive and influence this, as you lead and inspire a large team to deliver exceptional service and commercial results, across a broad portfolio of events and activities.

The needs of busy venues are fluid; working in this role is not a 9am-5pm / Monday to Friday role. This role is not Agile and you will be required to be predominantly based in the work place.

Whilst your primary place of work will be St George’s Hall, you agree to work flexibly across Liverpool Town Hall and Croxteth Hall to support the delivery of scheduled activity when required.

Project Producer (x2) – The Shakespeare North Playhouse, closes 17 Nov

The Shakespeare North Playhouse is a unique new arts venue, opening in the summer of 2022. It will present a vibrant contemporary cultural and learning programme featuring home co-produced and visiting performances, as well as comedy, music, community work, hire and events and a range of education and training activities.

They are looking for two individuals with least 2 years producing and/or delivery experience of creative learning opportunities to support the Learning Programme for this inspiring new venture, focusing on delivering a programme of events, social engagement and out-reach programmes and delivering opportunities for learning.

The jobholders will report directly to Evonne Bixter, Head of Engagement for Shakespeare North Trust and be a key member of the Culture and Learning team at Shakespeare North Playhouse, led by Laura Collier, Creative Director and Programmer.

The full-time contracted hours of work are 40 per week. However, due to the nature of this role, flexibility will be required particularly around the event programme. Shakespeare North is committed to achieving a happy and effective workforce and will give consideration to any flexible working arrangement, providing that the requirements of the role can be delivered to a high standard.

The full-time salary for this role is circa £23,000 based on relevant skills and experience.
