Criminal Justice Programmes Manager – The Reader, closes 31 Jul ’24

The purpose of this role is to lead and manage a national, remote team to deliver Shared Reading sessions within a large number (currently 35) criminal justice and high security environments across England.

The wide geographical spread of the justice settings and the delivery team involves substantial travel as part of this role. This contributes to the criminal justice re-commissioning process, ensuring their work continues in this sector and benefits those that need it most.

This role is responsible for the day to day operational management and delivery of an HMPPS contract which sees them deliver the enrichment programme for a nationwide body of Psychologically Informed Planned Environments (PIPEs) as part of the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD) Pathway. Commercial Manager – People’s History Musuem, closes 31 Jul ’24

PHM generates income through many channels including retail, venue hire, catering contracts and commissions. Since the impact of COVID-19, they have worked hard to rebuild these commercial income streams as a key source of self-generated income for the museum.

Within the current climate, self-generated income is more important than ever, and are now embarking on a new project to grow commercial work further. This two-year project is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and will focus on the future resilience of the museum. They aim to evolve their approach to grow and develop our existing commercial income streams and explore what their future model should look like.

This is a dynamic role which will lead on refining commercial strategy. The immediate focus will be to deliver their commercial plan, working with our skilled team to develop, market and grow existing income streams. This role will have responsibility towards meeting ambitious targets and reporting to their Trading Company Board. Over time, the role will shift to have an eye on the future, testing new ideas to increase the level of self-generated income.

They are seeking a strong project manager with commercial experience and excellent relationship management skills. Experience within the events and hospitality sector is essential. This will be a fast-paced role, where no two days are the same.

Assistant Director – Mother Goose / Theatr Clwyd, closes 2 Aug ’24

The role of assistant director is a key member of the creative team, supporting the Director (Daniel Lloyd) in the room, this hand-on experience is full time from day one of rehearsals until the press performance, so you’ll get to experience the whole theatre making process on a production of scale.

Please note this is a freelance, fixed-term position, and is open to people born, raised, or living in Wales.

Activity Planner – The Portico Library, closes 12 Aug ’24

Would you like to lead the collaborative design of the Portico’s activity plan for its £7m Reunited project?

Are you passionate about breaking down barriers to accessing heritage as well as the opportunities and challenges of contextualising offensive collections? This role, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, offers an opportunity to work with local communities, partners, staff, members, and critical friends to develop the Library’s future activity programme.

As Activity Planner for the Portico, you will be working closely with staff, numerous project consultants including the Design Team, Evaluator, Business Planner, Interpretation Designer and Lead Fundraiser. Your role is to author a compelling Activity Plan to take the Portico Library through the three-year delivery phase, including a period of closure for the capital works, where you will be running engagement and activities for targeted audiences. This plan should also map out the long term vision for public programming at the Portico once we re-open in 2028.

This piece of work will build on consultation with partners and community groups, with whom some established relationships are already in place but others need to be built up. Staff at the Portico – led by the Creative Producer – will support your work in this area, particularly on site at the Portico in scoping out activities and themes for interpretation.

In addition to the fee for your work, there is budget allocated to consultation on the legacies of enslavement, developing new displays and trialling different activities. You will play a part in allocating this budget with the guidance of the Creative Producer, Librarian and Project Management Team (budget details are in the outline Activity Plan). You will bring together skills and knowledge in audience development, community engagement, heritage interpretation and a love for working with people.

Professor of Composition – Royal Northern College of Music, closes 6 Aug ’24

While an essential area of experience will be acoustic instrumental and vocal composition, additional and complementary areas of expertise might include electronic music, experimental music, and/or composition for theatre, dance, screen, and video game.

The appointee will be expected to deliver one-to-one composition lessons at undergraduate and postgraduate level, potentially some small group teaching, and may be called on to contribute to auditions, examination, and seminars as required.

The post is initially for approximately 6-8 hours a week during term time.
