This post sits in the Development Team, which is responsible for delivering income to sustain and grow The Reader’s work and developing the relationships that can help make that work happen.

Creative Programme

  • Leading the Technical and production teams and working closely with creative teams to ensure the safe and smooth delivery of performances, events, and exhibitions.
  • Assuming overall responsibility for technical management of exhibitions, screenings, events, private hires, performances, rehearsals, workshops, and technical work.
  • Through effective project management maximise the use of HOME’s technical resources.
  • Ensuring the timely and safe maintenance, procurement and replacement of all performance, cinema, event, exhibition, and engagement technical equipment
  • Managing negotiations on technical riders with touring venues and companies (including non-theatre venues)
  • Delivering technical aspects of the delivery of access provision for all art forms
  • Overseeing, as required, the engagement of all sub-contractors required for all elements of the performance, rehearsals, and technical aspects of the project

People Management

  • Managing and developing the Technical Team. Including proactive management of team delivery, appraisals and ongoing support and development.
  • Contributing to programme planning meetings with a particular focus on capacity management, optimal use of resources, sustainability and creative ideas
  • Overseeing recruitment of, and contracts for, production and operational staff required for performances, events, exhibitions, rehearsals and technical work
  • Manage freelance contracts and ensure the correct finance and HR processes are adhered to.

Financial Management

  • Working with the Programme Teams on the creation and management of technical and production budgets controlling financial risk.
  • Forecast, manage and reconcile the annual costs of the Technical Department including providing information for Theatre Tax Relief.
  • Work to manage risk, workloads and maintain communication with internal/external stakeholders and suppliers as required.
  • Manager the company’s storage base and technical assets register.

Programming Administrator – Royal Northern College of Music, closes 29 Apr ’24

The Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Programming Administrator to join the RNCM’s Performance and Programming team, a creative department at the heart of the College which looks after performances by students and visiting guest artist across its three main venues.

This is a great opportunity to build on your knowledge of programming for a public audience in a busy, complex and vibrant environment, working within a small, friendly team.

Reporting to the Programming Manager, the role is involved in the programming, scheduling and reconciliation of RNCM-promoted events within the College’s performance programme, liaising with a number of internal teams, including Orchestras and Ensembles, Technical and Production, Operations, Finance, Marketing, and Conferencing and Catering, to ensure that events run smoothly. The role also liaises with many external parties, including artists, agents, publishers, promoters, touring companies and broadcasters.

The Programming Administrator will also take a lead role in the programming and development of student-led performance opportunities (Spotlights, Monday Lunchtimes, Lab Week), the production of print and digital event programmes, and the development of spoken presentation within events.

The successful candidate must have experience of working in an arts administration environment, and an interest in a broad range of music genres, with a good knowledge of Western classical music (including repertoire and performing artists).

You must be committed to supporting the College in its belonging, equality, diversity and inclusion practices, and be willing to work some evenings and weekends as planned in advance by rota.

Factory International offers space for the world’s greatest artists and thinkers to make, explore and experiment, and for communities and individuals from Manchester and beyond to meet, exchange ideas and learn new skills.

The Producing Department encompasses Producing, Event Management, Artist Liaison, Scheduling and Production Administration and is responsible for the scheduling, planning and delivery of all our activity. The team comes from a wide range of backgrounds, and works across art forms and event formats, delivering work in and around the Factory building, in the digital realm, across the city and internationally. As Executive Producer you will;

1. To work with the other Executive Producers to manage the producing and programme delivery function for Factory International, effectively and efficiently, over all programmes of work across the Festival and Factory International.

2. To act as an Executive Producer overseeing delivery of a range of new artistic commissions, presentations, and other events as appropriate for the Festival and Factory International, providing support to line Producers from R&D through to presentation of the projects in Manchester and internationally.
