Funny Looking Kids: Comedy Club

Liverpool’s first regular comedy club for kids (and their invited guests/handlers…) crashes back into the Bluecoat with its usual jokes, sketches, quizzes & mayhem!

From the first sketch to the final joke competition, Funny Looking Kids: Comedy Club is a rag tag bag of tomfoolery and nonsense. Chaos and cacophony, silliness and stupidity. This club offers comedy for kids with an alternative twist.

(7+ suggested but they once had a 5 year old laugh so hard they fell off their chair.)

Saturday, 9 July, 2.30-4pm

Tickets: £3.50 – £5.50

This edition of Late at Tate Liverpool is based around their exhibition Radical Landscapes, which invites people to take a fresh look at the British Landscape and the art it inspires.

Shielded in the Community – Crea...

Shielded In The Community is a disabled-led project run in partnership with DaDa Fest and funded by Liverpool City Council.

Mandy Redvers-Rowe is a disabled writer based in Liverpool. Working with producer Harriet Warnock and Assistant Producer Robyn Bowyer. Together they’re delivering this project with a wonderful team of disabled and neurodiverse artists, Amina Atiq, Malik Lidgett and Ellen Purse.

All of them had to shield in 2020 and 2021 but, although for many the restrictions have now been lifted, there are still a significant number of people who have to continue to shield.

They are asking Disabled and/or neurodiverse people who live in the North West of England to take part in this project by responding artistically to their shielding experience – whatever their current shielding status.

They will be hosting a workshop on July 8th at Toxteth TV between 2pm – 5pm.

At the workshop all four artists will be running sessions and you will have the choice to work on whatever art form interests you.

Shapes in the Sky: Make an origami mob...

Spend a relaxing afternoon with Elizabeth Willow learning how to create beautiful hand-folded origami birds and forms to suspend from a hanging mobile.

The workshop will be a calm and meditative session, the perfect antidote to life’s fast pace. Elizabeth says, “It is such a calming practice, and so magical to fold something out of a sheet of paper.”

Origami is a fascinating process, where square sheets of paper can be folded into a vast array of three-dimensional structures. Starting with simple shapes, then moving on to more complex forms, we will fold a flock of paper birds and insects. These can then be suspended from a twig, piece of driftwood or other found material, to create an elegant mobile that gently moves in the air, making patterns of light and shadow.

“All you need is a piece of foldable paper and an idea in mind, and sooner or later something delightful will evolve.” – Robert Harbin

Before the workshop, please meet at the front of the main Bluecoat building where a member of Display Centre staff will greet you. Please note that Bluecoat Display Centre and The Bluecoat building will not be open to the public at the starting time of the workshop.
