Part One: DaDa Makes Music

Join them to celebrate 10 years of the DaDa Ensemble project and wider music programme.
DaDa have commissioned a new short film looking at the work of the DaDa Ensemble over the years. The film features clips from past performances and interviews with the young musicians, the music leaders and project staff. This is an informal celebration event, the film is approximately 6 minutes long and there will be an opportunity to chat before and after the screening.
Part Two: DaDa’s Film Shorts
7pm – 8.30pm
The film shorts programme includes two new commissions to accompany the artists’ recent poems ‘Unwoven’ by Amina Atiq and ‘I Want More Disabled Rage’ by Dolly Sen and ‘Home’, a new work from Dora Colquhoun (featuring original music). Join us to watch all 3 films, an informal Q&A, with an opportunity to meet the artists. Drinks and snacks provided.

Disability Arts Online and Telepresence Stage are delighted to present a symposium discussion and workshop event at FACT on 19th March.
11am – 1pm In the morning, two of the UK’s leading disabled-led theatre companies, Birds of Paradise Theatre Company and CRIPtic Arts, will give presentations and a panel discussion on the benefits, possibilities, and future applications of unique online and hybrid performance outcomes they have developed. This session is hybrid and can be attended in person or online.
2pm – 3pm A practical workshop in the afternoon will provide interactive demonstrations and handson experience for those wanting to gain more insight into Telepresence technology, solutions and tools. This session is designed for in-person attendance only.

DaDa are thrilled to be working in partnership with disabled curator Gill Crawshaw and the Young Everyman Playhouse (YEP) Producers group to develop and share this pilot exhibition.
Over 40 years, DaDa has amassed a huge archive of material and memorabilia. Working with the YEP Producers, Gill will be sharing her experience and expertise in curating as a disabled person. The YEP group will be delving into their archive to share a snapshot of DaDa’s history from their own perspective.

Join DaDa on 26th March 10am-11am for this disability-led movement workshop facilitated by Australian artists Amy Claire Mills and Bedelia Lowrenčev.
This online workshop invites participants to move and shake their bodies through sweat and play. This is not about fitness; it’s about liberation, using movement as a tool for self-expression, catharsis, and collective joy.
No experience necessary. Wheelchairs, mobility aids, and rest breaks are welcome.

Battle Lines is a play about working class struggle historically and today. Many of the issues workers face today – low pay, zero hours, bogus self-employment, have arisen because of past Governments’ efforts to break and restrict organised labour and the Trade Union Movement.
The Miners’ Strike that ended 40 years ago was a pivotol event, and one from which younger workers today can take many lessons from. Banner Theatre, in both words and song, explore the struggles of the past and the present.
Theatre Porto is a relatively new theatre located in the old Whitby Hall in Whitby Park. There is some disabled parking adjoining the theatre, but free parking is generally in the main Whtby Park Car Park, with 200 metre walk up to the Hall.
Doors open at 6.30 pm and the play will start a little after 7pm. There will be an interval with light refreshments available. Finish around 9.15 pm.
There are no age restrictions, but the play is aimed teenagers and above.
Returning for a short tour in 2024/25, this will be your last chance to enjoy an evening with this iconic footballer.
Geoff will once again be joined by his great friend and agent Terry Baker, who will interview the England legend – and gently take the respectful mickey with him.
