Liverpool Fire Arts Festival Launches Crowdfunder To Bring Fiery Spectacle Back to the City

Bring The Fire Liverpool - Fire Festival 2025 Crowdfunder

Bring The Fire Project, the team behind Liverpool’s original fire arts celebration, are blazing ahead with plans to relight the spark for 2025 – and they’re calling on the public to help make it happen.

A Crowdfunder has been launched to support the return of the Liverpool Fire Arts Festival, a not-for-profit, community-led celebration of circus, flow arts, and fire performance. With a goal of raising £5,000 to cover production and outreach costs, the festival is set to ignite the city once more from Friday 9th to Sunday 11th May – marking a decade since its spectacular debut in 2015.

Organised by the local circus and flow arts community, the festival is a passionate grassroots initiative built on inclusivity, creativity, and connection. Events will span three days, featuring workshops, immersive performances, and family-friendly activities, all culminating in a fiery spectacle at the iconic Bombed Out Church on Saturday 10th May.

What’s On at the Festival?

Friday

  • Fire Jam & Open Stage in a secret location (to be revealed)
  • Fire Experience Sessions for newcomers

Saturday

  • Free family circus workshops at The Black-E
  • Skill-building sessions with renowned teachers from across the UK
  • The main event: a stunning fire and light performance at the Bombed Out Church with Focal Studios

Sunday

  • Circus Games at The Black-E
  • An indoor light and circus show to close the weekend

The organisers say:

“The festival is a labour of love. We want to create a safe, magical space where people can connect, learn, and be inspired by the power of fire arts and circus. With your help, we can pay artists fairly, hire venues, and continue building a sustainable future for this unique cultural offering in Liverpool.”

Funds raised will also go toward expanding free community initiatives, such as weekly flow arts sessions held at the Black-E, and ensuring the festival can become a regular fixture in the city’s cultural calendar.

With 20 days to go every donation counts.

Pledge a Pound – ArtsGroupie CIC Requests Help to Get them to Edinburgh Fringe 2025

🎭 Arts Groupie are going to Edinburgh Fringe – but they need your help.

ArtsGroupie is a Liverpool-based, working-class collective making waves in arts & heritage—since 2018, wtheyve produced 9 plays, including Kitty, Queen of the Washhouse, which alone has sold over 7,000 tickets. This year, they’re delivering 75 free community events.

But here’s the thing: they’ve done all this without core funding. They work project-to-project, often struggling to be taken seriously outside of Liverpool for being Scousers.

This summer, they’ve been invited to take two powerful shows to the Edinburgh Fringe – a massive opportunity to put working-class Scouse artists on the map.

💥 The Hammer and Helena – the true story of a woman who defied a witch hunter and sparked centuries of persecution.

🕯 Ghost Stories by Candlelight – their beloved, sell-out series reviving the lost tradition of live ghost storytelling.

They’re raising £7,000 to cover accommodation, travel, and production costs. If you believe arts should be for everyone – not just those with connections – please donate and share.

Even the smallest donation can make a big difference.

Plays For The People: day of play, discussion and action – Shakespeare North Playhouse, held 17 Jun ’25

Join acclaimed theatre maker Andy Smith and award-winning applied arts practitioner Lynsey O’Sullivan for a day of play, discussion, and action.

This day will see three performances of plays from the ongoing project PLAYS FOR THE PEOPLE: A CITIZENS’ ASSEMBLY, HOW CAN WE BE MORE ANTI-RACIST? and THE ACTIONS. These plays tackle the climate emergency, inequality and political activism. They are plays designed to be read aloud together and then discussed. They are plays where the people in the room play the people in the play. Plays that ask questions of acting in both a theatrical and ethical sense.

Audience-participants for this special event will each be given a copy of a new publication containing the plays. Over the course of the day, through the activity, they will be trained in how to undertake performances themselves. Following it, they can then organise them for their own communities and constituencies, free of any charge.

All are welcome. Lunch will be provided. They’d like people from diverse places to join us – arts and educational institutions, community and grassroots organisations, freelance artists and interested individuals. For this reason, tickets are being offered on a pay what you can afford basis between £15 and £45.

They suggest a price of £15 for freelancers and individuals, £25 for teachers, youth workers and those representing smaller arts organisations, and £45 for participants representing bigger institutions such as arts centres and universities. Please do consider paying what you can, as it will allow us to offer bursary places and support for those who for whatever reason are not able to afford to attend.

If you are interested in coming along and would like to talk about one of these places, please visit Andy’s Website.
