Chief Electrician, Manchester Theatres, closes 1 July

The Palace Theatre & Opera House are stunning, large-scale historic theatres located at the heart of Manchester City Centre.

They host work from leading UK and international producers enabling the most spectacular West End and Broadway shows to visit the North West alongside drama, classical and contemporary dance, live music, comedy and one-night specials.

The theatres host around 650 performances each year, with longer runs of major musicals mixed with week-long tours and one-night shows. They work increasingly in partnership with producers to open new shows or launch national tours.

They are recruiting for the position of Chief Electrician for the Palace Theatre, with some work at its sister venue the Opera House. You will be part of the senior technical team liaising with visiting productions regarding their electrical and sound requirements during their stay.

Under the Technical Manager you will lead on the maintenance of the venue’s electrical systems and equipment, you will assist the full time team in managing a pool of casual technicians and support the Technical Manager in maintaining a positive safety culture. As well as technical ability you’ll need great people skills and the ability to motivate and manage a team.

Director for Grandad Anansi Tour – Z-Arts/Half Moon Theatre, closes 17 June

Half Moon and Z-arts are seeking a director for production of Grandad Anansi for ages 4-9. The production will tour England this Autumn to venues and non-traditional venues, including libraries.

Particularly seeking expressions of interest from African or African/Caribbean or wider global majority heritage who can bring an authentic perspective to the piece, and who have appropriate experience of making professional work for young audiences/families, ideally within a touring context.

Grandad Anansi tells the story of Abi and Grandad who enjoy sharing Anansi folktales. They play games as they work together in the garden among the beautiful flowers and tasty vegetables. As they plant memories, they share secrets and develop a bond that nothing can break. This is a humorous and heartfelt inter-generational adventure, developed in collaboration with elders and children from the community in Hulme, Manchester.

Written by award-winning children’s author Elayne Ogbeta, Grandad Anansi is a Half Moon and Z-arts co-production: an exciting collaboration by the UK’s leading small-scale young people’s venue and touring company and Manchester’s award-winning venue for children and families.

The successful candidate will be expected to start working on this project through July and August in collaboration with the creative team and producers including casting. Rehearsals take place in Manchester, with some requirement to undertake zoom and in person meetings in advance of these dates.

Rehearsals start wk beg 5th September, with the show opening at Z-arts on 30th September before undertaking a tour of England ending 30th October.

Fee: £3500, plus relocation and living costs in line with the management organisation ITC.

As the Senior Programme Producer, you will lead on the programming/curation and producing of the cross-art form artistic programme in collaboration with Contact’s young programmers and Artistic Director.

Storyhunter

The Storybarn is a creative, interactive environment in which children can feel thoroughly alive and creative in the company of quality literature.

We are looking for a Communications Officer to join our team. Here at FACT, our mission is to enrich lives and shape the future through Film, Art and Creative Technology. Key to this mission is our role as an international centre for artistic excellence and a hub for the local community.

As Communications Officer, you will work with the Marketing & Communications team to increase the profile of FACT Liverpool. This role is instrumental in the delivery of marketing campaigns and communicating our artistic programme to local, national and international audiences, both online and offline. Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the overall web editor for the FACT website – ensuring content is up-to-date and accurate, utilising the site for campaign activity and liaising with the Marketing & Communications Manager and Digital Content & Marketing Officer to post relevant news stories and content.
  • Plan, compose and distribute newsletters and other email marketing campaigns.
  • Coordinate ticketing for FACT events using Eventbrite.
  • Write, source and edit effective and accessible copy for various media and audiences that reflect FACT’s commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Lead the organisation of press trips and events for traditional media and digital influencers.
  • Manage the day-to-day running of the press function by responding to enquiries, attending relevant media briefings, dealing with photography and video requests and representing FACT at public events.

  • Collect, record, monitor and evaluate the press coverage.

Programme Engagement Manager – Burnley Youth Theatre, closes 21 June

Burnley Youth Theatre are excited to receive funding from the The National Lottery Heritage Fund for this post as part of our Reflections and Revelations: Our People – Our Place – Our Future 50th Anniversary Programme.

In this role you will be responsible for bringing this programme to life through a number of projects and events, including an oral history project, a curated ‘living museum,’ and a heritage theatre performance. This programme crosses the boundaries of arts and heritage, bringing them together in the most creative ways.

In this role they are looking for someone who has experience of managing inclusive arts and heritage projects and has direct experience of working with children, young people and families from diverse communities. You will have strong communication skills and able to work with a range of people from freelance artists to local volunteers.
