This is an exciting opportunity for a positive and practically minded individual with an aptitude for maintaining high standards to join our Operations Team at Calderstones Park.

The Reader’s Calderstones site is a large multi-purpose community setting for our Shared Reading mission, with a focus on social enterprise activity to support the charities wider work across the UK. As a member of our Operations Team, the Operations and Events Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the safe running of activity on site.

As Operations and Events Coordinator you will also have the responsibility of overseeing the successful delivery of a number of our internal programmed events and private hire events at Calderstones Mansion House.

Person Specification:

Essential Criteria:

• Has a proven track record of managing daily operational processes in the commercial and/or social enterprise sector

• Demonstrate excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise their workload and remain calm under pressure

• Experience of Key Holder responsibilities, demonstrating an ability to confidently open and close a large site and maintain alarm systems.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with colleagues within the Operations department and across all departments at The Reader’s Headquarters and build relationships at all levels.

• Ability to work in a fast paced environment across a large site, checking the smooth running of all activity taking place in a number of different buildings based at Calderstones Park.

• Able to demonstrate an understanding of the wider work of The Reader, and its social values and that these values are represented at the site.

• Demonstrate a meticulous attention to detail in the daily planning and delivery of onsite activity.

• Confidence in liaising with external public emergency services and ability to respond to incidents across the park.

• Proficient with IT systems, including use of Office 365 programs

• Willingness and availability to work flexibly over a 7-day week, which may include unsociable hours, weekends and bank holidays.

Oldham Coliseum Theatre is seeking a Marketing & Communications Assistant to support the development and implementation of marketing and communications campaigns to achieve sales targets and increase profile, audience growth, engagement and loyalty.

The role will involve contributing to strategy and planning, marketing, public and media relations, insight and research, audience development, sales and communications.

Assistant Curator, Production (fixed-term to 30/11/2023) – Liverpool Biennial, closes 17 July

Liverpool Biennial is currently seeking an Assistant Curator to join its Programme Team, to work on the delivery of the Biennial’s 12thedition and year-round programme.

They are looking for someone who is organised, energetic, engaged and adaptable, with at least three years’ experience of working in a similar role in contemporary visual arts. This role provides an excellent opportunity to be part of an open, proactive and agile team, delivering outstanding contemporary art in one of the world’s most vibrant and illustrious cities.

This role will be offered on a fixed-term contract to 30 November 2023, and  involve some evening and weekend working, for which they offer compensatory time off in lieu.

You will join an innovative team of Visitor Assistants who are responsible for engaging with visitors and providing access to the collections and the exhibition programme. The main duties include assisting all visitors to the Art Gallery, Museum & Sculpture Centre enhancing their experience and creating a positive impression of the service through excellent customer care, providing security for the collections and exhibitions, manning the Gallery shop, delivery of talks, workshops and public events, promotion of the service and assisting the curatorial team with the installation of exhibitions.

As Head Curator you will play a pivotal leadership role in National Science and Media Museum’s senior leadership team, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making across all areas. You will lead the Curatorial and Archives team to ensure work is delivered in line with museum priorities and to shape the museum’s narrative through exhibitions, events and public programmes, increasing physical and intellectual access to the collections.

As well as developing their historic collections, you will champion their ambitions to research and collect more contemporary materials, working collaboratively with key academic and industrial partners, particularly in areas such as the digital and creative industries.

Working closely with curatorial colleagues across SMG, you will share knowledge and expertise, maximising the impact of being part of the world’s leading group of science museums. Together with the Curatorial and Collections Services senior leaders at other SMG museums, you will be leading a drive towards a shared approach to collections development, ensuring we draw effectively on the skills and expertise of colleagues across SMG and beyond.
