The Storybarn is a creative, interactive environment in which children can feel thoroughly alive and creative in the company of quality literature.

With Shared Reading at the heart of all that we do, we believe that books offer children a way to understand the world in which they live and the worlds inside themselves. The Reader exists to provide book-routes into this inner space, and to develop shared understandings of both it, and the outer world. The role of Storyhunter is to animate the Storybarn space and provide high quality shared reading experiences to children & families.

The successful candidate will;

– Be a confident reader with the ability to inspire young people to love reading and to feel confident and relaxed in the company of books
– A lively, engaging, enthusiastic personality with the ability to deliver all aspects of Storybarn programming and able to build a rapport with the children to encourage them to engage as fully as possible with the experience
– Have an ability to create an exciting, stimulating environment, whether in and around the Storybarn, or virtually, to encourage children to make meaningful connections with books and stories. Experience of using props such as puppets, musical instruments and other items to stimulate creative play

Communications Officer, FACT, closes 26 Jun

We are looking for a Communications Officer to join our team. Here at FACT, our mission is to enrich lives and shape the future through Film, Art and Creative Technology. Key to this mission is our role as an international centre for artistic excellence and a hub for the local community.

As Communications Officer, you will work with the Marketing & Communications team to increase the profile of FACT Liverpool. This role is instrumental in the delivery of marketing campaigns and communicating our artistic programme to local, national and international audiences, both online and offline. This is a collaborative role, working closely with all of the teams at FACT as well as artists, curators, press, media and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the overall web editor for the FACT website – ensuring content is up-to-date and accurate, utilising the site for campaign activity and liaising with the Marketing & Communications Manager and Digital Content & Marketing Officer to post relevant news stories and content.
  • Plan, compose and distribute newsletters and other email marketing campaigns.
  • Coordinate ticketing for FACT events using Eventbrite.
  • Write, source and edit effective and accessible copy for various media and audiences that reflect FACT’s commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Lead the organisation of press trips and events for traditional media and digital influencers.
  • Manage the day-to-day running of the press function by responding to enquiries, attending relevant media briefings, dealing with photography and video requests and representing FACT at public events.
  • Be a point of contact for and share activity with the press offices of our local, regional and international tourism agencies
  • Collect, record, monitor and evaluate the press coverage.
  • Work with the Marketing & Communications Manager and Digital Content & Marketing Officer to plan communications, write and distribute press releases and contribute to communications strategy.
  • Work with the Digital Content & Marketing Officer to design and coordinate distribution of print and marketing collateral, working closely with freelancers and suppliers.
  • Support the Digital Content & Marketing Officer in the creation of content for FACT’s social media channels.
  • Be part of a team environment and contribute to overall plans and discussions to achieve successful outcomes.

Salary & Hours of Work

Salary: £20,260 pro rata
Hours of Work: 35 per week over 5 days (1.00 FTE)

Burnley Youth Theatre are excited to receive funding from the The National Lottery Heritage Fund for this post as part of our Reflections and Revelations: Our People – Our Place – Our Future 50th Anniversary Programme.

In this role you will be responsible for bringing this programme to life through a number of projects and events, including an oral history project, a curated ‘living museum,’ and a heritage theatre performance. This programme crosses the boundaries of arts and heritage, bringing them together in the most creative ways.

In this role they are looking for someone who has experience of managing inclusive arts and heritage projects and has direct experience of working with children, young people and families from diverse communities. You will have strong communication skills and able to work with a range of people from freelance artists to local volunteers.

Visitor Experience Assistant – Manchester Craft and Design Centre, closes 10 June

The team are looking for a committed, energetic, down-to-earth person who is passionate about the arts to join Manchester Craft & Design Centre’s team as a Visitor Experience Assistant.

The Visitor Experience Assistant will be a key member of our small team over the coming months. The successful candidate will assist in ensuring a welcoming atmosphere, both in-person and online. This will mean welcoming visitors onsite, as well as managing our public-inbox.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  • Welcome visitors to the building, direct them to historical information and answer any questions
  • Keyholder with responsibility for securely opening and closing the building in a timely fashion
  • Maintaining a tidy building, emptying waste bins, distributing post etc.  Reporting any issues promptly to the Team
  • Maintain a high standard of visitor satisfaction, ensuring needs are met and helping to improve the visitor experience
  • Work effectively with our Team and Resident Makers to support them with their work e.g. helping with activities and workshops, and setting up for events.
  • Helping the public to complete visitor surveys and give feedback on their visit and feeding this back to the Management Team on a regular basis.
  • Manage the general enquiries inbox, maintaining studio enquiries and forwarding them to relevant team members
  • Attend relevant meetings and events as and when required
