NML’s Procurement team reports to the Head of Finance & Procurement and consists of the Procurement Business Partner and the Procurement Assistant. The team is responsible to the Executive Director of Business Resources for the strategic development and management of National Museums Liverpool’s procurement service, contributing towards the organisation’s ‘Value for Money’ and strategic procurement objectives. Reporting to the Head of Finance & Procurement, the Procurement Business Partner will provide a professional advisory service to ensure the integrity of procurement activities across all categories of third-party expenditure for National Museums Liverpool and its subsidiaries.

About the Role

The Curator plays a key part in the ideation, research, management and implementation of audience-centred, thought-provoking and inspiring programmes. Projects include collection-based historical and contemporary exhibitions, as well as new commissions, talks and online engagement. A particular focus is also on working with partners to develop and deliver multifaceted projects and commissions.

The role is based in Liverpool and works closely with the London team to deliver projects at RIBA North in Liverpool, in London or at other venues, and online. You will work collaboratively with other departments, also co-curating with other RIBA curators or external partners, depending on projects.

Job Requirements

  • Experience in researching, planning and managing all stages of exhibitions and programmes, delivering on time and to a high standard
  • Ability and experience to work creatively to establish concepts, key messages and learning outcomes, shaping content to develop narratives.
  • Experience in identifying appropriate interpretation methods, developing tone of voice and text hierarchies, and selecting objects, so that each exhibition and display connect with our audiences
  • Experience of working within a cultural organisation, with understanding and experience of contemporary curating strategies for exhibitions and programmes
  • Experience of working with external contributors and the Collections Team to compile and research object lists and prepares all necessary working documents to meet planning deadlines
  • A graduate degree in a relevant discipline or demonstrable expertise and experience in a relevant area of architecture, architectural history, design, critical theory etc.

Job Responsibilities

  • Create/oversee design and concept briefs and in working with designers, writers and creative agencies, interpret and realise those briefs whether in physical or digital formats
  • Take on an audience-focused approach, including evaluation, in shaping project outcomes
  • Deliver with strong presentation and writing skills; with the ability to write effectively and deliver talks to diverse audiences
  • Manage administrative, organisational and planning tasks
  • Manage and monitor budgets
  • Multi-task, coordinating on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Show a passion for engaging the wider public with architecture and its impact on society and individuals

The industry-backed standards cover four areas of accessibility: Built Environment, Digital Communications, Customer Service, and Commissions, Events, and Programmes.

They will collect, analyse and learn from data throughout All In’s life cycle.
