Shop Volunteer (General Assistant – Upton) – British Red Cross (Birkenhead)

The team are currently looking for General Assistant volunteers to help in their shop.

** If you have a few hours a week that you can spare on a regular basis and want to help around the shop, then this could be the opportunity for you!

**General Assistant volunteer typical activities;** – Checking the quality of items donated and preparing them for sale or for recycling – Ironing, cleaning, labelling, and pricing the items ready for sale – Keeping the shop well organised and tidy – Displaying items for sale – General activities around the shop No experience is needed. Full training will be provided. There is no expectation to use a till or computer in this volunteering role.

**When can I volunteer?** A few hours during the week/weekend - as agreed with the shop manager. There is no minimum commitment or fixed hours, they only ask that you agree hours you are confident you can attend and that you let them know where these hours may change.

Prisoners’ Families Helpline Volunteer – Prison Advice and Care Trust (Work from home)

The Prisoners’ Families Helpline provides support to loved ones of those affected by the Criminal Justice System across England and Wales.

Purpose of this role

To provide information and guidance to family members, friends, prisoners and professionals by responding to incoming telephone calls. You will respond to queries by providing direct information, signposting to other relevant organisations and making referrals to Pact colleagues. Below are a few examples of calls received on the helpline:

  • Trying to find out which prison someone has been sent to
  • Concerns regarding the wellbeing of a prisoner
  • How to keep in contact with someone in prison
  • How to send money to someone in prison
  • What to do after someone has been arrested
  • What support is available to someone after release from prison

Location

This is a remote role from home, so you will need to have access to a laptop/computer, a smart phone and an internet connection. A quiet working environment is also required.

Time commitment

They expect volunteers to commit to working a minimum of one shift per week, for a period of at least 6 months.

The helpline is open 7 days a week, 9am-8pm Monday-Friday and 10am-3pm on weekends. The helpline is closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. The shifts we have available are as follows:

Monday – Friday: 9am-1pm,1pm-5pm or 5pm-8pm

Weekends: 10am-3pm

Training

You will be required to undertake Safeguarding, Professional Boundaries, Equality & Diversity and Data Security training online, as well as attending role-specific Helpline training via Zoom. You will also have access to various other training modules on eLearning platform Pact Academy.

Social Media Marketing For Children’s Charity – Reach Volunteering (Wirral)

What will you be doing?

The role will work directly with the charity’s Fundraising and Communications Manager, Siobhan, to help shout loud and proud about what their organisation does and promote fundraising events they are planning on delivering!

Community Fundraiser – Dogs for Good (Work from home)

As they are a charity, work relies heavily on the generosity of supporters. As a Community Fundraiser, you will be supporting fundraising activities on a local level to ensure they can continue to support the incredible work that Dogs for Good aims to deliver each year.

Must successfully complete the appointment process (including acceptable personal enquiries and acceptance of Dogs for Good’s policies). It is expected that whilst volunteering for this role you will undertake regulated activity.

The responsibilities of the role

  • Placing collection boxes in appropriate sites in your local area.
  • Dealing with the administration of the collection boxes (includes collecting the money, providing receipts and keeping records of money collected at each site).
  • Counting money raised and paying this into the Dogs for Good bank account.
  • Identifying new sites in your local area where collection boxes can be placed.
  • Supporting us at street and store collections.
  • Collecting and banking public cheque donations from around your local area.
  • Promoting Dogs for Good by helping convey our fundraising messages both on the internet and in your local area.
  • Supporting our campaigns and fundraising products.
  • Creating any fundraising ideas and events you can think that will help generate funds.
  • Promote the fundraising guide available from Dogs for Good within schools, organisations that may help generate funds.
  • Thank donors/supporters.

Volunteer Coordinator – Chandlers Ford Good Neighbours (Work from home)

Part of the Good Neighbours Network, Chandler’s Ford Good Neighbours is a voluntary organisation set up to help our local community with the kinds of essential tasks that a good neighbour might do for those in need.

This can include driving and escorting people, principally to medical appointments that they would otherwise struggle to attend. They help in excess of 300 clients in the Chandler’s Ford area.

Their coordinators work from home and match requests for help from clients with volunteer drivers. They currently work a one week (Mon-Fri) in six/seven rota but this is flexible and we will always look to work in a way that suits you. There is no need to sit at home the whole time. You can go out to do the shopping, drop off kids etc, and pick up phone messages on your return.

Basic computer skills are needed but full training will be given. A DBS check will be required.

NSPCC Schools Volunteer – NSPCC (Widnes)

The team are looking for volunteers from all over Cheshire EastCheshire West and Halton to join and become Speak out. Stay Safe School Volunteers.

What does the role involve?

As a Speak out. Stay safe volunteer, you’ll visit primary schools to deliver workshops that teach children about the different types of abuse and how they can speak out and stay safe. Workshops are age-appropriate and memorable, and need enthusiastic people, passionate about children’s rights and wellbeing, to deliver them. You’ll work alongside other volunteers to help children feel empowered and know who they can speak to if they ever have any worries.

What do I need for the role?

You do not need to have previous experience of working with children to apply – just a desire to help spread important safeguarding messages to them.

Similarly, you do not need to have any classroom or teaching experience for the role – in fact, most volunteers don’t! Full training and extensive support is given to all volunteers.

But they do want people who:

  • are passionate about the wellbeing of children;
  • are happy working as part of a team;
  • would love to learn new skills;
  • are able to travel to primary schools in their local area; and,
  • can fit in 2 school visits a month. (Times can vary depending on the size/location of the school. Visits tend to take place in the morning, and Schools Coordinators aim to be flexible around volunteers where possible.)

Youth Group Main Leader (Liverpool RSPB Wildlife Explorers) – RSPB

Did you know that there are RSPB Youth Groups across the UK, and their network is growing and expanding, so they need more volunteers to lead and shape youth group teams.

**What do you need to know?**

· You will use your existing skills to lead and motivate a team of dedicated volunteers, delegating tasks by getting to know everyone’s strengths and experiences.

· You will be the main link with the RSPB youth team and be responsible for sharing information to the youth group. The

RSPB Youth Team will support you to ensure the group is using our framework and operating within our standards.

· You will need to be confident with using a computer for example to communicate using email to send required documentation.

· With your team you will plan the programme and run the sessions in a safe and fun way. The programme will be made up of activities where young people can experience and take meaningful action to protect nature.

· You will ensure that the group’s finances are managed in accordance with our policies and submit annual financial returns.

· You will liaise with reserves, local groups and other wildlife organisations.

· You will invite regular feedback from your group leaders, and most importantly the young people to evaluate the success of your meetings and work out what needs to be done to be even better.

· You need to enjoy working with young people – they are the heart of what they do.

· You will be asked to complete a variety of training including induction and safeguarding and data protection.

· The youth groups usually meet monthly, and Main Leaders usually spend six to eight hours per month outside of the meetings on the role depending on how the responsibilities are shared within the team.
