Volunteers – Friends of Norris Green Park, Community Task Morning, held 22 Jun ’24

Join Friends of Norris Green Park volunteer group to tackle to Broad Lane entrance to the park which is looking a bit sad and neglected.

Community Task Morning, 22 June, 11am – 1pm, just head along!

They will have some new plants to put in too, as someone has chopped down a climbing rose planted by the volunteers a few years ago.

Everyone is welcome, especially families, and all tools will be provided.

They will be getting free pizzas delivered for lunch for everyone who takes part, plus hot & cold drinks.

Shop Volunteer – British Red Cross (Liverpool, Norris Green)

Your local British Red Cross shop has a variety of activities available for volunteers to support them in. From sorting stock & preparing donated items for sale to providing great customer service to our donors and customers – they have something to suit most people’s interests.

Shops rely on volunteers to keep them running successfully.

**They are currently looking for General Assistant volunteers to help in their shop.

** If you have a few hours a week that you can spare on a regular basis and want to help around the shop, then this could be the opportunity for you!

**General Assistant volunteer typical activities;** – Checking the quality of items donated and preparing them for sale or for recycling – Ironing, cleaning, labelling, and pricing the items ready for sale – Keeping the shop well organised and tidy – Displaying items for sale – General activities around the shop No experience is needed. Full training will be provided. There is no expectation to use a till or computer in this volunteering role.

**When can I volunteer?** A few hours during the week/weekend - as agreed with the shop manager. There is no minimum commitment or fixed hours, they only ask that to agree hours you are confident you can attend and that you let us know where these hours may change.

**Not sure?** They have a range of opportunities and activities for volunteers in their shops, including Stock Assistant volunteers and more. These will all be available to view and apply to by searching your town/city name on this site.

Venue Organiser – Read Easy (Liverpool)

This role presents a wonderful opportunity to get out and about in your community, liaising with local businesses and organisations to find and arrange suitable reading venues for your group.

Generally, preferred venues are libraries or similar settings that can provide an element of confidentiality, so that Readers aren’t intimidated by having to return to classroom-like settings, but have at least one other person is in the building during reading sessions.

You will be organised, proactive and enthusiastic and enjoy spreading the word about your local group to a wide range of people and organisations.

Customer Support Volunteer – Barnardos (Birkenhead)

Retail shops are the face of their charity on the high-street and in local communities. As a Customer Support Volunteer you will provide a first class customer service experience, ensuring customers find everything they need during their visit.

Collections Inventory Project Volunteer – Port Sunlight Village Trust, closes 7 Jun ’24

If you have an eye for detail, enjoy data entry, and have a passion for history, this might be the role for you! They are looking for someone to work with them to complete an inventory check of our object stores.

The role involves working directly with historic objects, systematically checking and recording a description of each item in our database, thereby helping to improve their records and knowledge of this collection. If you would like to learn more about the history of this unique village and develop skills and experience with collections, they’d love to hear from you. This project will initially last for 6 months, after which the project and role will be re-evaluated.

The closing date for applications is Friday 7th June, with interviews will take place on 25th and 26th June. The likely start date for this role is early July.

The Board of Governors oversees the educational character and mission of the University and has specific responsibilities for effective use of resources and financial probity.
