The Shakespeare North Playhouse is a unique new arts venue, opening in the summer of 2022.  It will present a vibrant contemporary cultural and learning programme featuring home co-produced and visiting performances, as well as comedy, music, community work, hire and events and a range of education and training activities.

They are looking for a Head of Visitor experience who will have overall responsibility for the delivery of a seamless visit for all audiences and customers, ensuring the customer journey encourages repeat visits and brand loyalty.

This role will be vital in ensuring a consistently high standard of customer service is provided across all customer facing operations. The role will help to develop a new a visitor experience and training strategy for the organisation.

The Head of Visitor Experience will provide motivational and inspiring leadership to the frontline teams who look after visitors, championing excellence in recruitment, training, customer best practice, accessibility and delivering a friendly and welcoming offer across the site.

The post-holder will report to the Director of Marketing and Commercial for Shakespeare North Trust and will be responsible for the Visitor Experience Managers (& retail, ticketing and tours teams), the Food & Beverage Manager (& team) and the Volunteer Coordinator (& volunteers).

Shakespeare North’s full-time employees work a 40 hour week normally over 5 days.

Due to the nature of this role, however, and to meet the demands of the building, the post holder will need to be flexible in their approach to work.  Evening and weekend work will be required at times.

The full-time salary will be up to £38,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

They are looking for an exceptional Head of Audiences to develop and lead the Marketing and Communications team. The post holder will work closely with engagement colleagues to reach out to local communities and work with the Head of Visitor Experience to create an outstanding customer offer.

The role will inspire and manage the team to embed the brand, create and implement engaging and unique campaigns which will develop a new audience base, increase loyalty and engagement, achieve ticket sales targets and raise the profile of the organisation.

The post-holder will report to the Director of Marketing and Commercial for Shakespeare North Trust and will be responsible for four members of staff: Marketing Officer, Communications & PR Officer, Digital Content Officer and CRM Officer.

Executive Director and Deputy CEO – HOME, closes 14 Feb

Job Description

1. Being an advocate and ambassador for the organisation

2. Represent HOME at key meetings with existing and potential public sector stakeholders including Manchester City Council, Arts Council England, BFI and Greater Manchester Combined Authority. This will involve making effective representation to these funding bodies including the preparation and drafting of funding applications as appropriate.

3. Secure funding agreements and ensure that reporting requirements are met for public sector funders.

4. Build effective strategic relationships with organisations and individuals, locally, nationally and internationally, who will further the aims of HOME.

5. Work with the Development Director and Communications and Marketing Director to ensure the regular update and implementation of marketing, audience development and fundraising strategies.

6. Work with Executive Team and the Director of Finance to formulate all budgets for forward income and expenditure, including, as required, multi-year business plans, annual budgets and forecasts and cash flow forecasts for discussion with the Director & Chief Executive.

This will involve working closely with all budget holders to agree team and project budgets (including income projections) for presentation to the Board for approval.

7. Ensure effective systems are in place to manage the day-to-day financial operations, robust sign-off procedures are in place and all statutory obligations eg HMRC, VAT, Charity Commission and Companies House obligations are met.

8. Ensure the Director of Finance produces timely, accurate and useful monthly management accounts.

9. Provide the Director & Chief Executive with financial analysis and interpretation as required and discuss the implications of this analysis with all senior managers as necessary.

10. Make financial reports to the Board and Finance Sub-Committee of HOME and advise on all financial matters.

11. Oversight of cashflow with the Director of Finance for HOME and to maintain a good working relationship with the company’s bank
