Learning & Engagement Manager (Music Heritage) – Sound City, closes 26 Aug

Sound City are looking for a Learning & Engagement Manager to join their team.

Sound City Job

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

As a result of the growth of the company in the last two years and our recent organisational development activity – which includes securing our first National Lottery Heritage Fund grant to run Sounds in the City, a music heritage project – we have identified the need for a Learning and Engagement Manager to join the Sound City team.

We’re looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic individual who is passionate about music and heritage, who is looking to work as part of a small, committed team who share that passion. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, creative and a natural problem-solver with an enthusiastic and engaging personality and experience of designing and delivering learning and engagement programmes with and for young people.

ABOUT SOUNDS IN THE CITY

Your main project at Sound City will be Sound in the City. The aim of the project is to engage young people aged 16-24 in the UK and beyond with the unique musical and cultural heritage of Liverpool and Merseyside through a training course both live and broadcast via our innovative digital streaming platform Guesthouse and a series of short documentaries.

Young people are under-represented in heritage and often don’t see it as being ‘for them’. Sounds in the City will be young person led, with our heritage experts and film crew supporting them to uncover and tell the stories that are relevant to their lives and interests.

We’ve already done some consultation with young people and themes of the project may include: the Black music scene of Merseyside; ‘Spaces of Music’, exploring venues, rehearsal spaces and studios; and dance music culture, from the 80s to the present day.
