The Community Development Officer will be pivotal in delivering the Rocket 2030 initiative and the Community Rail Partnership (CRP). Two year position, 36 hours a week.

This role focuses on engaging local communities along the railway route, fostering pride in rail, as well as celebrating community, cultural and industrial heritage. Key responsibilities include coordinating activities, building partnerships, implementing the CRP action plan, and developing programmes to enhance community involvement in railway, heritage, and cultural activities.

A strong understanding of sustainability, inclusion, diversity, and co-production principles is essential. The successful candidate will collaborate to design and deliver initiatives that are meaningful, equitable, and environmentally conscious, ensuring they reflect and celebrate the diversity of the communities along the route and the aims of the project. Your ability to integrate these values into planning and delivery will be critical to achieving impactful and inclusive outcomes.

Volunteer Coordinator – The Whitaker Museum and Art Gallery, closes 6 Dec ’24

The Whitaker Museum and Art Gallery have built strong relationships with all of their local communities and have grown the volunteer team to an impressive number of 118.

Strong foundations are already in place, including a good database that is accessed by all volunteers, who are used to engaging with it and booking on for shifts. They have a number of roles including Front of House, Shop, Gallery Invigilation, Collections Support, Activities and Maintenance.

They have attracted diverse range of volunteers from the local community, including retired people, those looking for work experience, young people from age 14, some of which are volunteering towards a Duke of Edinburgh award. They have refugees and asylum seekers who they support in a variety of ways and ensure they are welcomed and able to make new friends and utilise their many skills. They also have regular students and school pupils who join us annually for work experience.

Training programmes are arranged on a regular basis and a strong set of operation policies, procedures and instructions are in place.

This role is supported by a senior manager with a wealth of experience in Volunteer Management who will help with strategy in terms of volunteer recruitment, management and training.

SALARY: £24,000 per annum pro rata, plus pension contribution

Programming and Collections Assistant – The Whitaker Museum and Art Gallery, closes 6 Dec ’24

Since their reopening the team have delivered new events and forged lasting partnerships with local community groups. Festivals have been developed including our annual Winterfest, and the first Pride festival for Rossendale this year.

They have a strong programme of regular events, their What’s On has a film programme, family friendly activities, talks, workshops and events related to their exhibition programme. They have developed a good network of contacts, working with excellent facilitators, artists and specialists who support our programme.

Their Collections work has developed considerably, led by an experience Collections Curator, and supported by a strong volunteer team. Much of the collection is documented but there is still a lot of work to be done in this area. They change displays regularly and enable many visiting artists, students and researchers to access their collections. They ensure interpretation is accurate, clear and informative, and resonates with the ethos of the museum. They deliver many talks and events in relation to the collection.

Aftercare Projects & Partnerships Lead – Listening Ear, closes 2 Dec ’24

To manage the development of LE’s Aftercare programme to ensure its successful delivery against a range of desired outcomes for individuals, communities and their organisation.

Their Aftercare programme is for adults, children and young people who have received Counselling from Listening Ear to help them cope with bereavement, separation & loss, domestic abuse and/or stress & anxiety. Their Aftercare beneficiaries benefit from ongoing support in a group context with support from experienced Counsellors. They run a number of Aftercare groups, all at different stages of development, and have recently been awarded funding from the National Lottery Community Fund for a period of just over four years. This will enable them to develop, evaluate and embed a more consistent Aftercare approach that is informed by beneficiaries.

They are looking for an experienced Projects & Partnerships Manager, with a passion for providing effective services for people of all ages who face challenges with their mental health. You will work with their amazing team of Counsellors (who deliver the Aftercare groups) and with Aftercare beneficiaries and potential beneficiaries to plan, manage and evaluate an ongoing Aftercare programme, including positive activities. You will be responsible for managing a project budget of up to £30,000 per annum.

Interpretation Plan Consultant – Hyndburn Borough Council, closes 9 Dec ’24

Hyndburn Borough Council is seeking a suitably experienced consultant/consultancy team to tender for the preparation of an interpretation plan and in consideration of their audience development aims for the successful delivery and subsequent operation of Accrington Market Chambers (AMC). The interpretation plan shall be prepared in a form that takes account of all relevant guidelines published by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

During the National Lottery Heritage Fund Development Phase, the appointed consultant/consultancy team will produce an interpretation plan including plans for developing an overarching heritage theme for the new museum with sub themes to ensure the museum and the complementary activities in AMC are inclusive, relevant to Hyndburn’s communities, accessible and work towards financially sustainability.

Alongside and following an initial stage of interpretation planning work, the consultant/consultancy team will undertake a review of heritage themes identified and, as more detailed audience development is advanced and there is better clarity as to the scope and nature of heritage themes that target audiences and Hyndburn audiences identify. The consultant will make recommendations for a preferred overarching heritage theme for AMC to increase community memory, identity, culture and a sense of pride in place for the new heritage and related offer in the building.

The appointed consultant will develop a detailed interpretation plan in consultation with Hyndburn Borough Council and with stakeholders such as Culture and Heritage Investment Panel (CHIP), a panel of experienced and practicing arts, heritage and cultural professionals who advise and consult on the strategic development of culture and heritage in the borough guided by Hyndburn’s new Cultural Strategy 2024-2030 and cultural partners such as Super Slow Way, Idle Women and Lancashire Museums.

Artist – SEND Library / St Helens Borough Library Service, closes 16 Dec ’24

Recruit artist to help in the re-design of Haydock Library in collaboration with SEND families to make a SEND focused Library space that is welcoming to all. Space will be co-developed with the community, as an artist/designer/library supplier collaboration to create a unique and inspiring space

St Helens Borough Council Library Service wish to commission an artist, interior designer, architect, or suitable consortium/collaborative partnership to undertake a project to:

Undertake the sensory redesign of Haydock Library, co-produced with children, young people and families who have lived experience of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

This project is funded through Arts Council England’s Libraries Improvement Fund with a contribution from the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group.

The successful applicant will work in partnership with St Helens Borough Council Library Service and the Project Steering Group members including Adult Social Care and Health, Children and Young People’s Services, NHS, Listen 4 Change and parent/user representation.

The project needs to be completed by January 2026 with a view to the opening of the refurbished Library in February 2026.

LIPA are looking to recruit a Technician (Live Sound) for their Technical Services Team.

You will support the Sound Technology and Theatre Performance Technology Departments, providing equipment and technical support for live sound lectures and seminars. As well as supporting students’ learning you will work with the Productions Technical Department to assist and ensure the smooth running of LIPA productions and events.

You will facilitate technical sound requirements for open days and other LIPA events such as masterclasses, and Graduation. You will provide a customer facing role for bookings and events. In addition, you will also you will be responsible for providing first-line technical support to ensure the smooth processing of equipment booking requests generated from Smarthub; ensure adequate arrangements exist for the storage, distribution, and maintenance of Live Sound equipment, and assist with budget preparations and the ordering of equipment.
